The first gathering will be Feb. 7 from 12:30-3:30pm at Richmond UMC on the North district (please note we will move locations throughout the conference each month). Lunch will be provided; note that if you have food allergies or sensitivities you are welcome to bring food that meets your needs. A Zoom option will also be provided.
Peter Jamieson is a retired Elder from the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference currently serving the Richmond UMC near Bangor, PA in EPA.
Peter’s spiritual journey is ongoing. Peter attended the Walk to Emmaus in 2004 and became involved in the Garden State Walk to Emmaus community afterwards. He answered God’s continuing call on his life to Pastoral Ministry, went to Palmer Seminary and was appointed as clergy in 2007.
Peter’s Spiritual journey took a major turn when he attended the 39th Academy for Spiritual Formation in Malvern, PA. The Academy is a spiritual formation experience meeting for a week each quarter for two years. Afterwards Peter felt a calling to join with others in the practice of spiritual formation. He took courses from Garrett Theological Seminary on different aspects of spirituality. He took a course on leading spiritual retreats and spiritual groups from the same professor from Garrett.
Peter has lead one-day spiritual retreats at the Deitz Camping center, a three-day spiritual retreat for the Order of St Luke in New Jersey and has lead two PACE groups in Greater New Jersey focused on spiritual practices.
Purpose for retreats:
Spiritual retreats can be a time of rest from the daily grind of ministry. The spiritual practices learned at the retreats can also be a source of strength and trust in God as we continue to lead our congregations during a time of change and transitions. Gathering with others enables the Holy Spirit to work within each of us to become more open to God’s presence and calling.
