February 16, 23, March 30 | 7pm – 8:30pm
Facilitators: District Superintendent Rev. Brian Roberts and congregational leaders from GNJ
The Simplified One Board Model or "Simple Board Model" is one that congregations of all sizes are exploring and adapting across the country as they seek an adaptive leadership structure. Challenged with a number of committees, meetings after meeting after meeting, and wanting to set people free to minister in their community, care for the congregation and grow vitality and spiritual depth, congregations are discovering that the Book of Discipline allows for some creativity and simpler organization.
Those participating in this three-session course will learn a step-by-step process for discerning and possible implementation of a Simple One Board Model. The sessions will draw heavily on the newest edition of Mission Possible 3+: A Simple Structure for Missional Effectiveness and provide an overview of the stages of exploration, congregational engagement and implementation. Several pastors and congregational leaders will share their experiences as they moved to a Simple Board Model.
